A few weeks ago I had the great honor of meeting Ismary. If you have ever met her, you would agree that it is, indeed, an honor to know her. Ismary has a passion for Jesus that is infectious. She has a love for people that is tremendous. She radiates the gospel from every part of her being.
Ismary and her husband, along with their three girls, open their home up every Monday night for dinner and a Bible study. The people who attend are from their church or just from the community. The time is sweet and warm. Some know Jesus intimately, some don’t know Him at all. The ones who don’t know Him are sure to feel the love that is unusual and contagious.
The fellowship starts with praise and worship time in the living room. It then moves to the kitchen for dinner. Then the kids are taken off separately to do crafts and have a Bible study while the adults spend time studying God’s word.
Tonight The Hinson’s had the privilege of sharing this most precious time with our Hispanic brothers and sisters. We were welcomed as if we were family. We were kissed, hugged, and told we were loved more times than I can count. Our kids were held and taken care of. We sang a song in Spanish to start the Praise and Worship time, but because we were guests, we all sang Whom Shall I Fear in English so our hearts would be prepared to study God’s Word as well.
I have to say it was a special time. Our hearts were touched by the passion in the hearts of God’s people. We walked away refreshed and renewed.
And here was the great take-home conversation afterwords:
Grant: “Did you like playing with all the kids at Ismary’s house?”
Asher: “Yeah. Her daughters were cute.”
