Tonight at Hispanic Bible study we learned of a sad situation that we ask you all to pray for as you read this. Our friend’s husband was placed in jail on Saturday night. He was stopped at a license check near his house and was found to be in the United States illegally and was arrested and will most likely be deported.
Before your thoughts go any further, I would like to ask you to put away your political views or personal thoughts on immigration. I would like you to see this woman as a human being and pray for her as Jesus sees her. She has been loyal to come to Bible study and is seeking Jesus. She is now left with no husband, no father to her toddler son, and no income for her household. Tears continuously flowed from her eyes as we sang praise songs and shared verses with her from God’s word. She was encouraged by her “familia” as we sat around the table with open Bibles explaining what verses give us the most comfort in our greatest sorrow.
I have no idea how my friend feels, but I do know that I can’t imagine what life would be like if Grant was taken away from us. My heart breaks for her as she wonders what the future will hold.
There are many other families in this same situation tonight here in Lancaster. It was said that both Friday night and Saturday night the police set up check-points very close to the other large trailer park here in the community that is inhabited by almost 100% Hispanics. Many men were taken into custody as a result of this. No matter what you think about it, can we agree that there are hurting wives and children that need our prayers and support tonight. Thank you, friends.
