Do you need help with homework?

You see that sweet girl, 2nd from the left? That’s Joselyn and she needed help with her homework today.

In Countryside we offer Homework Helpers every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to, well, help kids with homework. We have a steady group of about eight that come and three college students that help out. Today we got to help with more than just homework.

Joselyn is an energetic child. She is tough on the outside, but we knew there was a soft side there somewhere–we had seen a glimpse of it. She is one who has been at our house from Day 1. She has participated in everything we have done and comes to church every time we have service. During Sunday’s communion service, God started knocking on her heart. And during homework helpers today she asked my dear friend about asking Jesus into her heart.

He knocked and she answered. He beckoned she come to Him and she said yes. He said He would change her tough exterior and make her a new creation.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

I saw that new creation tonight. While she was at my house she treated others a little more gently. She helped her friends. She laughed with my kids. There was a difference. A difference only God can make.

I guess God gives us all homework that we need help with.

1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Have you confessed your sins?

Romans 10:9-10 says “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Have you believed in your heart?

Acts 2:21 says “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Have you called upon the name of The Lord?

Dear friends this is such a sweet, sweet picture of the Grace God extends to each one of us. I praise The Lord today that Joselyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

She made an A+ on that test today!

  1. Glory to God. I thank God for what is happening in Lancaster and the way he is using his servants to carry on his work. Sherry and I love you (miss you too) and pray for you every day. May God bless, Keith Trawick
