We make friends fast.
Cause yesterday we met 15 folks from Alabama, and today we already feel like we have known them forever. They are our friends.
This morning, our friends worshipped with us at New Hope. After a night of sleeping on cots and air mattresses, they all looked rested and presentable. Well, most of them.
Me and Grant shared a sweet time of fellowship with their adults during the Sunday School hour while the kids went to their classes.
After church they had the privilege of indulging in the SC home cookin’ that makes you want to hide under the fellowship hall table and lick your plate. If there is one thing I know, it is that the ladies of New Hope can throw together a spread like no other. And the desserts. Oh, the desserts.
And you know what most Baptists do after a good sermon and good cookin’? That’s right, they nap. Baptist Nap Hour. Or BNH for short.
But these fine Alabama folk made the ultimate sacrifice today. They skipped their BNH.
Instead, they walked around Countryside praying and handing out flyers. They were inviting our neighbors to their VBS and Sports Camps this week. God held off the rain for them and we are grateful.
Now they have headed back to Flint Ridge Baptist Church, their home for the week, to further train and plan and then will worship there tonight.
Here are some pics for all you visual learners out there…
A few prayer requests for y’all:
*Pray that the rain will hold off this week so they can have the VBS each morning from 10-11:30 and the Sports Camps at 1pm.
*Pray that the kids from the neighborhood will want to participate.
*Pray that the team from Alabama will be taught something this week and be able to see God work in their lives.
*Pray for their safety as they travel around town in their big bus.
