When someone comes to visit once, we are blessed and encouraged.
When someone comes to visit twice, we are doubly blessed and extra happy.
When someone comes three times, well, you are now one of us.
Thirty folks from Marble City Baptist Church pulled into Lancaster, South Carolina from Sylacauga, Alabama yesterday. This is their third summer making the trek northeast to minister and love and serve. And, boy, do they do it well!
Yesterday when they arrived we all had dinner together and set them up at their home for the week at Flint Ridge Baptist Church. (We are super grateful for The Ridge’s hospitality!) They had a welcome service where Grant shared a message with them for the week and Kyle Harris shared his gift of song. We are blessed to know such talented people like Kyle!
After a night of not-so-restful-air-mattress-sleep, today was a day of powerful prayer. This morning the team broke up into four groups and took different tracks to prayer walk. We felt led this year to pray over a different community, so we decided to head over to Southside and Brooklyn. Each group spent time petitioning The Lord to work mightily in those neighborhoods.
A church located in those communities, Calvary Baptist, opened their doors and we were allowed to pray with them for a while as well.
Lunch was provided by Zion UMC and it was fantastic! It was the perfect fuel we needed to head back to The Connection for an afternoon Backyard Bible Club.
When we got back to our house after the fun at The Connection we were greeted by a letter stuck in the front door.
How blessed are we to serve in such a great place!
The night was finished off with supper and worship at Pleasant Ridge. Shanda led the devotional time and Brittany Williams was the worship leader. We closed out the day with a powerful prayer time around the altar together as brothers and sisters in Christ. What a service!
We have so much fun with the Alabama Team that it is hard to say good-bye at night. This is how we all feel when we part ways…
But we will be back at it in the morning to serve and laugh and love together again!
